Provides the opportunity to learn about a particular artist or illustrator and create a project inspired by this artist every month. |

| P rovides a resource to help with reading both in the class room and at home. Students listen to books read aloud, read with vocabulary and pronunciation support, and read without support. Teachers easily limit students to appropriate reading levels and specific books and track student reading progress. Students can practice reading to improve reading comprehension and reading fluency anywhere with Internet access. | |

Brier Pride Lunches. A drawing is held each month from all the Brier Pride Tickets that were handed out. The winners enjoy a pizza lunch with the school principal |

| Steps & Steps to Success Curriculum |
Teaches students specific skills to help them manage their emotions, their impulses, and to solve problems. With the ability to calm down and stay in control, students are better able to meet school-wide behavioral expectations. |

Brier Elementary PTA coordinates the Scholastic Book Fair. 100% of the profit made is given to the librarian who purchases additional books and materials for our library. In conjunction with the Book Fair, the Bobcat Authors’ Corner celebrates our students’ writings. |

Reflections |
The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program that provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme. The theme for the 2011/2012 school year is “Diversity Means…” |

Scholarship funds are provided to families through the school office for PTA membership, and other classroom needs as requested. All information is confidential and approval is determined by school office. |

Family Fun Events |
Includes a variety of family fun events including dances, bingo, swimming, skating, movies, and bowling. Everyone is invited to these affordable events. Students must be accompanied by an adult. PTA events are not intended to be drop-off events, unless otherwise noted. Any fees charged at onsite events cover the cost of the event itself, these are not fundraising events. Offsite event pricing is determined by vendor. **We are looking for a Social Chair to head the planning/organizing of these events for the 2011/2012 school year – if no chair is found; we will not be able to provide family fun events this year. |
| COMMITTEES | |

The PTA’s financial records are audited twice per year by an independent committee in accordance with Washington State PTA Guidelines. Three to five volunteers are needed once in mid-January and in mid-July to perform the audit. A financial background is helpful but not necessary. |
Budget Committee |
Develops following year’s budget. Meets in late spring. No special skills required. Presents budget to general membership for approval. |
Nominating Committee |
This committee is elected by the PTA general membership and is responsible for recruiting volunteers to fill PTA Executive Committee positions for the following year. They present the slate to the PTA general membership for election in early spring. |
